twenty twenty

While the champagne chills and I prepare to pop away 2020, I wanted to share a few things I was extremely grateful for this past year.

Even with everything 2020 threw at me, I had the good fortune of planning 3 weddings, 1 surprise anniversary dinner, 4 interior design projects, and 6 styled photoshoots for local businesses. I continued to work alongside Nicholas Randall and Finn + Izzy for a year of window merchandising, and capped off the year with my first Instagrammable wall at the Victoria Public Market.

Emilie + Mitch – July 18th, 2020

Emilie + Mitch had planned for a 160 person wedding prior to 2020 and were constantly rolling with the punches thrown their way. When it became clear restrictions wouldn’t lift, they made the decision to move forward with the allowable number of guests and focus on their love story.

At this time the wedding industry was still learning how to move forward with the new look of events and protocols. Thankfully I worked alongside Truffles Catering and they were total pros in making this a safe and meaningful wedding for Emilie + Mitch. I would say this backyard wedding turned out better than imagined and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Photography Hendrik Van Der May Floral Design Rook & Rose Tent Shady Spaces

Loren + Matt – July 25th, 2020

The following weekend I traveled to Tofino to celebrate Loren + Matt. These 2 lovebirds pivoted from their original 130 guest count to literally a 11 person ceremony on Shell Beach. Following a cocktail hour while serenaded by Alle Bernardi Music L+M then dined privately on the beach with just the 2 of them. I can’t think of anything more intimate. This wedding was definitely my “silver lining” moment of 2020. It was a privilege to be involved and witness this love story. June-November 2020

I leaned on my interior design background this year and found happiness in the work I created for my clients. It was like dusting off an old bike and taking a spin around the block.

More to come on those projects but for now I’ll share a sketch of a proposed ensuite design and a before + after shot of a bathroom reno (I apologize for the iphone photos).

I was also grateful to jump into photoshoot styling and collaborate with a very talented artist (and dear friend) Lauren Mycroft, provide Product + Wardrobe styling for Lusher Co., as well as Product Styling for Westshore Town Centre. I look forward to more of these projects in 2021. Photography Dasha Armstrong Photography (LM Art), Kim Jay Photography (Lusher Co.), and Jon-Mark Photography (WSTC). Quentina + Terence - September 7th, 2020

I wrapped up the wedding season with an intimate wedding for Quentina + Terence at Starling Lane Winery. These 2 always planned on a smaller wedding but their original date in May was rescheduled to September. It turned out to be a perfect day (warm, sunny, and extra romantic), it was almost as if it were meant to be.

To my clients, thank you for trusting me with the important details on your special day or the vision for your home or product. It means so much to me that I get to play a small part of your big day + decisions. I love and appreciate you all dearly.

This year presented many unforeseen challenges, but it has also provided me with an unexpected opportunity to pause and reset.

My self mantra for 2021. Bring it on!
